The City of Tucson |
City of Tucson Environmental Management (EM) is responsible for the compliance oversight of numerous environmental permits ranging from groundwater monitoring to landfill aquifer protection permits. Each permit requires specific actions be taken to keep the issuing agencies informed. These actions may include water quality samples, reports or regulatory site assessments.
PBS&J assisted the city in meeting these challenges and developed the electronic Compliance Assistance and Technical Support (eCATS) system. The eCATS system has integrated ArcIMS with Active Server Page technology to reveal an application that is user friendly and allows data viewing and querying on many levels. Users can access the full database through the map environment or choose to read/write data through the web.
Recently eCATS was expanded to provide direct integration between the data query and reporting system with the live sampling results from the City’s water department. This integration helps improves the efficiency in data review and improved response with respect to water quality management. Functionality for eCATS has also been expanded for use in the field with the development of ESRI ArcPad tools and synchronization utilities to maintain the enterprise data environment. |
