The Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise is responsible for managing 449 miles of limited-access toll roads throughout the state of Florida. PBS&J has served Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise as general consultant since 1988. During that time, Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise has experienced tremendous growth, with annual toll revenues growing from $89 million to over $400 million. As general consultant, PBS&J functions as an extension of FDOT’s resources by providing qualified technical and professional personnel for program management; toll operations; professional services; bonds, asset management, and operations support; planning support/conceptual studies; environmental management; project management; plans review/project engineering support; professional right-of-way services management; surveying and mapping; utilities/railroad relocation; construction engineering management; and maintenance management.

 

PBS&J was instrumental in establishing Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise’s maintenance and construction management programs and its current scheduling system. As part of its services, PBS&J assisted Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise in obtaining approximately $2.5 billion in bond financing, and through the successful management of its program, Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise has received a bond rating upgrade from an A+ to an AA-. Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise has benefited from PBS&J’s expertise in transportation planning, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), and electronic toll collection (ETC) through the implementation of computerized toll collection and violation enforcement systems for approximately 900 toll lanes and 50 toll plazas.
