Flood Hazard Management:
Outreach Services

The challenges for floodplain management do not end with engineering and mapping. Flood maps impact people, businesses, and communities in a very personal way. It is vital that an effective outreach program accompany the entire floodplain mapping process, to maximize community acceptance and the adoption of new flood maps.

PBS&J has successfully designed outreach programs to fit a variety of situations, but each has made the community an integral part of the process. Working with state and local officials, communications with the public are initiated early—during the scoping process—and then continued for the duration of the project, until the final flood maps are adopted. At PBS&J, we recognize that every community—and every situation—is unique. Our toolbox of options allows us to find the right course of action for your community.

PBS&J's outreach efforts include comprehensive web portals designed to educate and communicate updates for these valuable programs. Examples include:

State of Georgia Flood Map Modernization Program
State of Montana Flood Map Modernization Program
FEMA Region V Map Modernization (IDIQ)
