Harnessing the Power of Arc Hydro
 Our natural water resources are like the proverbial double-edged sword. We need

What is Arc Hydro?
Arc Hydro is an industry standard data model resulting
from the collaboration between ESRI and Dr. David Maidment of the Center for
Research in Water Resources (CRWR) at the University of Texas at Austin. This
data model gives users a standardized template that can be used for applications
ranging from hydrologic data storage to regional data sharing between water
control agencies, and even for real-time model creation from GIS
data.
Why use Arc Hydro?
The primary benefits of implementing any
industry standard data model are to capitalize on best practices and to leverage
commonly available tools and techniques built to operate using the model. The
Arc Hydro data model in particular has already proven to be effective in this
regard. Implementers of the Arc Hydro data model are already taking advantage of
