Miami, FL – The Greater Miami Society for Human Resources Management (GMSHRM) recently recognized PBS&J for “Outstanding Contribution to Diversity and Inclusion Practices in the Workforce,” as part of their 2007 Celebration of Diversity Awards.
GMSHRM annually sponsors a Celebration of Diversity, which includes an awards program, as a means of recognizing businesses that promote an “inclusive work environment.” Candidates were judged in a number of areas including how their diversity programs add measurable value to their company, how they work to strengthen community relations and how such programs improve the quality of life for their employees.
PBS&J was one of four finalists for the award based upon a rigorous selection process. Competing firms were required to submit information covering a number of topics, including workforce diversity, community relations, leadership and employee development. Underscoring that commitment to diversity, of PBS&J’s 286 employees in Miami-Dade County, 77 percent are minorities and 44 percent are women. Minority employees represent 58 percent of top management positions at PBS&J’s Miami office, and women account for 30 percent of those positions.
“I am very proud to accept this award for PBS&J and thank the awards committee for recognizing our company’s commitment to diversity and each unique individual who makes up PBS&J,” said Judith Squillante, Director of Human Resources. “It is very appropriate that diversity has been elevated and is recognized through these awards.”
