SummerGrove at Newnan, Master-Planned Golf Course Community

Location: Newnan, Georgia
Client: Pathway Communities, Inc.

Pathway Communities enlisted the services of PBS&J to assist in the development of the SummerGrove master-planned community, just south of Atlanta. Located north of the town of Newnan, which was founded in 1828, SummerGrove was planned to blend with the charm and grace of the historic town, while providing the best of the future. The 1,430-acre development was designed with a technological infrastructure that provides every home high-speed Internet access and connectivity to a community intranet.

PBS&J’s services included assistance with the development of the master plan for SummerGrove, where neighborhoods were integrally linked with recreational, open-space areas. Traditional amenities such as recreational areas, open spaces and parks, an 18-hole championship golf course, a 100-acre lake, and over five miles of interconnecting shaded trails, were planned with the vision of creating a community with a unique sense of place. The SummerGrove Town Square was designed as a center of community activities, with a 16-acre wooded community park, town hall, pavilion, pools and tennis courts, and golf clubhouse. PBS&J’s services also included landscape architecture and construction management services for the golf and community center, main project entrances, overall project signage, parks, street tree planting for the boulevard, and common open-space treatments.
