Tampa, FL – The PBSJ Corporation, parent company of PBS&J; PBS&J Constructors, Inc.; Peter R. Brown Construction, Inc.; and PBS&J International, Inc., has announced the award of grants totaling more than $77,000. Grants will be administered through The PBSJ Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) foundation focused on helping the corporation’s employee-owned subsidiaries expand their programs for charitable giving.The Foundation Board meets quarterly throughout the year to consider funding requests submitted by employees of the Corporation’s subsidiaries. At its June 2009 Board meeting, grants for the following programs were approved:
- The University of Texas at San Antonio Prefreshman Engineering Program (PREP); San Antonio, Texas
- Communities in Schools (CIS) of Caldwell County; Caldwell County, North Carolina
- SDSU MESA Engineering Program Leadership Summit 2010; San Diego, California
- MESA Engineering Program (MEP) Scholarship, SDSU College of Engineering; San Diego, California
- Larkin Street Youth Services HIRE UP; Education and Employment Services for Homeless and Runaway Youth; San Francisco, California
- Contemporary Science Center Field Studies Program; North Carolina
- Sixth Grade Science Alliance (SGSA) Outdoor Environmental Education Program Scholarships; South Sacramento, California
- Girl Scout Council of Tropical Florida, Inc. Stem for Today and Tomorrow; Miami, Florida
- Seminole County College Foundation, Inc. Women in Science: Travel Studies in Biology; Seminole County, Florida
- Florida International University (FIU) PBS&J Scholarship Program; South Florida
- Florida Community College at Jacksonville Foundation PBSJ Scholarship Fund and Qualified Internship Program; Duval and Nassau Counties, Florida
