Panama City Beach, FL – PBS&J is donating $5,000 to Bay Education Foundation, Inc., local coordinator of the Take Stock in Children® program that provides eligible students with four-year scholarships, pairs them with adult mentors through college, and requires each student to participate in community service projects. A check will be presented at noon on November 19, 2008, to Marilyn Fenimore, chair of the foundation, and Bill Husfelt, superintendent of Bay County Schools, by Gene Martin, PBS&J associate vice president. The presentation will take place at the Foundation Board meeting room, located at 1311 Balboa Avenue in Panama City. The grant is funded through The PBSJ Foundation, Inc.
“The scholarships PBS&J sponsors are life changing for our children, their families, and the community,” said Fenimore. “In exchange for staying out of trouble and graduating from high school, students have the chance to improve their future opportunities with a college education.”
The funds received from PBS&J will be used to provide scholarships to three deserving students, who must meet attendance and grade requirements to be eligible. This marks the second year PBS&J has donated to Bay Education Foundation.
“We are committed to making a difference in the communities we serve,” said Martin. “I cannot think of a more appropriate way to give back than teaming up with a foundation that really has its finger on the pulse of what is so desperately needed in this area.”
