Located in south Florida, the Broward County School District is the fifth largest in the nation, and the largest fully accredited district in the country, with 244 schools, centers and charter schools. PBS&J was selected in 1996 to provide cost estimating and scheduling services for the School Board of Broward County (SBBC), and has been twice reselected for additional three-year terms.
As an integral part of the Project Management Team for the SBBC, PBS&J provides total program management support for implementation of the five-year work program, and specific construction consulting services on an as-needed basis for any school in the County. Individual projects have included elementary, middle, and high schools including site improvements and building construction.
From pre-construction to post-construction activities, comprehensive project control services have included cost estimating, scheduling, document management, and inspection. PBS&J developed cost estimates and a master project schedule for over 120 schools and administrative facilities for the SBBC facilities needs assessment. Routine assignments included reviewing baseline schedules for reasonableness and compliance with cost and resource loading requirements; monitoring construction progress through review of monthly contractor’s schedule updates; and performing site visits to monitor contractors, review change order requests, and to develop adaptive management resolution recommendations for construction or design deficiencies.
