It was also the springboard for the Bexar
Regional Watershed Management (BRWM)
partnership, which is now working with
PBS&J to develop a system that will provide
a single repository of spatial and modeling
data to be used by all project participants.
Arc Hydro is providing the framework for
this comprehensive regional system.
PBS&J is providing engineering and geographic information systems (GIS) services for development of the modeling system framework for the 4,000-square-mile SARB. The regional modeling system being developed by the PBS&J team will employ innovative and efficient modeling and GIS/Geodatabase procedures. The project team includes professors from the University of Texas and Texas A&M University, who are assisting with incorporating Arc Hydro capabilities and model/data linkages into the modeling system. In the end, each of the partner agencies will use this database independently to resolve issues such as flood mitigation planning, identification and prioritization of water-related capital improvement projects, floodplain management, and flood alert system development. It will also be used to develop and update Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) flood maps.
Throughout the development process, the project team has worked closely with the BRWM partners to make certain that the ultimate system meets the needs and expectations of the end users.
The completed system will includea web-based interface for management of modeling datarequests, tools to facilitate thereview of models by BRWM partnerengineers, and tools to integratenew models into the master database.
